On the 22nd of February, Sony announced information on their new smartphone range called Xperia X at a press conference in Barcelona. Sony’s latest range consists of three models - the Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA.

In terms of design and specs, the X series comes just below the company's flagship Xperia Z5 range. They are available four colours - white, graphite black, lime gold and rose gold – so there’s something for everyone.

The Latest Range

Sony has been known to release some cracking devices in previous years. Recently, we were made aware of their newest line of mobile phones – the Xperia X range. They recently launched a video that demonstrates some of the key features of the up and coming handsets, but we’re going to focus on the Xperia X.

As it currently stands, Sony haven’t confirmed a release date or price for the new handset, but we know that it will be released sometime in May and many online mobile phone stores are already taking pre-orders.

What We Know

In the recently released video, we learned that the Xperia X will feature a pretty impressive 23 megapixel camera with a superfast auto focus feature. In addition, we know that the size of the device is 5.0 inch, fully HD and boasts a two day battery life! The impressive battery life alone makes it a huge contender against its competitors.

With 3GB of RAM and other features such as a fingerprint sensor, the Sony Xperia X is on par with many of the top-range phones available on the market just now.

Meanwhile, the Xperia XA, which comes in as the lesser of the three devices and the most budget-friendly, also boasts a modern and interactive design. However, the inside of the Xperia XA isn’t quite as exciting, with a MediaTek CPU a 5.0-inch 720p display and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera.

The wait will soon before to find out exactly what each of the X handsets have to offer, so watch this space!
