Sony Xperia C3
The Xperia C3 is designed to take on the “selfie” craze that has swept through the mainly youthful smartphone World, a little bit like a pet rock for those of a certain age…
To cater for the selfie phenomenon, the C3 has a huge 5MP front facing camera that can tell if you’ve brushed your teeth or not. It comes with a wide-angle soft LED flash for those party moments that you hope your boss doesn’t see, 720p video recording and software for re-touching your self-portrait. You can even make yourself look more beautiful than you already are. Really.
The rear facing camera is your standard 8MP number with an LED flash and 1080p capture.
The phone also comes with a 5.5”screen at 720x1280 pixels, and uses Sony’s proprietary TRILUMINOS technology, so this is not the highest resolution screen out there, but it does the job. By the way, that screen makes for a very wide-angle selfie. This is a reasonably large phone, but there are other top end phones that are just as large out there.
Inside, the mid-range Xperia C3 is specced with a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage plus a microSD slot, and a 2500 mAh battery. The Xperia C3 supports LTE, has NFC and comes with all the usual goodies such as Wi-Fi, GPS and GLONASS support, and Bluetooth 4.0.
This is a dual-SIM Android 4.4 KitKat device with all the Sony enhancements you expect, and Sony say that it should start shipping from August onwards (first in China) in Black, White and Mint colour schemes. We think that it will retail at €300 to €350.
Should you get it?
If selfies are your thing, then this is the one for you, otherwise look elsewhere...
