Just when you think Sony couldn’t possibly produce another smartphone this year, they have gone all out with the new Xperia Z Ultra which is really a cross between a smartphone and a tablet due to its size, and is set to launch around the 12th of September of this year. It could give the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Note III a run for its money when it’s also launched around the same time.

The Xperia Z Ultra looks as every bit as smart and nearly identical to the Xperia Z but with one amazing feature that is the 6.4” 1080p Full HD Display  giving you 344 ppi and the first phone ever to feature a TRILUMINOS™ Display with X-Reality for mobile, and in Sony’s words “An on-the-go viewing experience that maximises everything”. Surrounded in tough and durable tempered glass which is coated with an anti-shatterproof film makes this baby real tough. What also makes this smartphone truly unique is the fact that you can write on the screen with any pen or pencil that has a tip of around 1mm.

Keeping true to form, the Xperia Ultra Z has both the dust resistant and water resistant technologies which are feature in the Xperia Z providing the same performance. It’s been jam packed with all the high-end specs you know and love from Sony including running the latest version of Android Jellybean, powered by a 2.2 GHz Quad core Snapdragon 800 processor, Adreno 330 graphics you'll be able to play the most advanced 3D games, and browse the net quickly and with efficiency, 2GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage with a microSD slot allowing up to 64GB. Wifi, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity are also featured as well as LTE and 4G. This whole package is powered by a 3,000mAh battery and is still as slim as ever and weighing in at a 212gms.

Sony have downsized their camera in their latest model, it comes equipped with an 8MP rear fast-capture camera with Exmor RS technology providing you with 16x digital zoom and auto focus which also includes full HDR recording at 30fps but for such a pricey phone you would of thought that they would have added an LED flash. It also comes loaded with a 2MP front camera that also captures photos and HDR recording at 30fps.

As yet there is no confirmed pricing for the Sony Xperia Z Ultra by Sony themselves but some retailers have mentioned that when it goes on sale in September it will be around £600 SIM free and will be available in 3 colour options being white, black and purple.
