Sony Xperia T3

Sony has made the Sony Experia T3 available to fill the mid-range gap in their market, now that they have launched the Experia Z2. Expect the phone to arrive in-store at about 530 GBP or less. The word on the street is that the T3 will be a half to two-thirds the price of the Z2, so be on the lookout.

We will shortly have the HTC One E8 in our sweaty paws. And a good thing it is too, as it comes in at around half the price of a HTC One M8 or a Samsung Galaxy S5, with some pretty good specs indeed.

Samsung Galaxy Z

Samsung’s new Samsung Galaxy Z phone has a trick up its sleeve. It’s the first phone from Samsung to operate Samsung’s new Tizen system. Tizen is based on Linux (as is Android), but you can consider Tizen as being a “fork” of Linux as Samsung go their own way with the system. A plus is that, since it’s based on Linux, developers won’t have a problem developing for Tizen, and users will still be able to access Google Play for apps.

The Yotaphone 2 is a phone with an unusual name and some unusual features. Let’s start off with its appearance. It has a slab front with a curved back, with an electronic paper display built into the curved back. The main display is a 5” 1080p AMOLED number, with the secondary electronic paper display a staunchly 4.7” size at 540 x 960 resolution. The electronic paper display screen is also a touch screen, enabling touch scrolling down books etc.

Nokia Lumia 635

So here, we have the Nokia Lumia 635, and a decent phone it is too! There is one caveat though, and that is that the only difference between the 635 and the Lumia 630 is that the 635 has 4G LTE and the 630 has 3G, so it really depends on how much speed is important to you. The phone is reasonably light too at 134g.

Samsung Galaxy K Zoom

This phone is a bit like a solution looking for a problem. I’m trying to work out what market this phone is aiming for, and it’s not easy to identify. Essentially, it’s a camera with a phone attached. This means that if you are ready to drop your prosumer camera and have it conjoined toyour phone, or you are a phone junkie that just has to have a biggest camera on the market, this is the one for you. There are other camera phones that also do a good (if not better) job of all the above (the Galaxy S4 Zoom and the Nokia Lumia 1020) with less hardware. Well, you make up your own mind, but I don’t think mum would want one, Dad might and the kids want other bell and whistles.
