This phone is a bit like a solution looking for a problem. I’m trying to work out what market this phone is aiming for, and it’s not easy to identify. Essentially, it’s a camera with a phone attached. This means that if you are ready to drop your prosumer camera and have it conjoined toyour phone, or you are a phone junkie that just has to have a biggest camera on the market, this is the one for you. There are other camera phones that also do a good (if not better) job of all the above (the Galaxy S4 Zoom and the Nokia Lumia 1020) with less hardware. Well, you make up your own mind, but I don’t think mum would want one, Dad might and the kids want other bell and whistles.

Now for your edification and delight, LG has introduced the all-new G3 phone. It sure is the business. The screen itself is a 5.5” display with a stunning 538ppi, which translates into 4 x HD. The difference between this phone screen and an HD phone is very easy to see. Colours are sharper, they stand out far better and the contrast is superb.

The HTC One M8 HKE has received somewhat mixed reviews over the standard HTC M8. I think it all depends if you are an audiophile or not. The HKE's are not cheap, but if you are already looking at a top of the range phone on offer, you will expect to pay a premium. They are also released excluisively on US network Sprint - although UK users may somehow be able to get their hands on one.
