With the most recent craze sweeping not only the nation but most of the world, we have to take a minute to talk about Pokémon Go.

Pokemon Go

The Basics

By now, you’re probably aware that Nintendo has released a new app game across the globe, known as Pokémon Go. How does it work? Well, downloadable via the Play Store or Apple’s App Store, players can search the real world using satellite locations to find Pokémon near them, and use augmented reality to see and capture them. One of the downsides that users are already complaining of, however, is the fact that the new app is a battery drainer. With this in mind, you may need to invest in a power pack or portable charger for your handset. While downloading Pokémon Go is free of charge, you do have the ability to earn PokéCoins for in-app purchases.

The Ins and Outs

Even though there have been reports of the app being extremely buggy, developers are continuing to find ways to improve and grow the game. When you use your smartphone for Pokémon Go, you will be kept notified of how far away a nearby Pokémon, rival trainer or group event is. This means that players can scan their surroundings while out and about and if they’re lucky, a wild Pokémon might pop up on their screen for them to grab.

To add the Pokémon to their collection, all they have to do is throw a Poke Ball at it and attempt to catch it. The game is already proving hugely popular; within only 1 day of its launch, it crashed company servers and caused shares in Nintendo to surge by 10%.

What Do You Think?

While this new concept of gaming may change the way we use our phones for fun in the future, we’ll need to wait and see if it’s simply a fad or something that really will ‘catch’ on! Have you downloaded Pokémon Go? Are you a fan? Let us know your thoughts!
