With the continued introduction of glass-fronted screens over the past few years, many of us have experienced a crack screen (some more than others). However, we all know that feeling when to our horror, we drop our phone, and much to our disbelief it hasn’t suffered even a minor scratch. Thanks to the smartphone Gods!
However, some people who have recently paid a LOT of cash for the much-anticipated iPhone X are clutching it close to them and not letting go since it’s been dubbed the most breakable iPhone in history. Warranty service provider, SquareTrade, rated the ‘high-risk’ handset a 90 out of 100 when it comes to breakage, beating the Samsung S8 (granted, not a good victory) which received a score of 77 out of 100 when it was first released.
Bad News for iPhone X Owners
Most smartphones are at a risk of breaking when dropped – it’s just the way it goes. But for you to fully understand just how breakable the iPhone X is, check out the video below which sees the handset being put through a number of rigorous durability tests.
In the video, each drop renders the phone mostly unusable, with damage caused to the device's display and Face ID camera making the mere act of unlocking the phone very difficult.
In SquareTrade's final verdict, the company stated that the iPhone X is the "most breakable, highest-priced, most expensive to repair iPhone, ever".
Where Does this Leave iPhone X Owners?
The smartest thing to do as an iPhone user would be to purchase a protective case to ensure you don't end up forking out hundreds for a new screen replacement. There are loads to choose from at GadgetWear from durable rubber cases to colourful and stylish ones.
